Questions we actually get.
Still stuck?
Write to support@pdflabstudio.com. It is read by the person who wrote the App, so you will not be asked to reset anything or clear a cache.
1What does the free tier include?
Scanning, Photos to PDF, PDF to Images, PDF to Text and signing documents are unlimited, with no daily allowance and nothing to count down.
Every Pro tool — Compress, Merge, OCR, Word to PDF, Excel to PDF, Watermark, Summarise and keeping a signature for reuse — includes one full-strength free use. That first run is not degraded in any way: no watermark, no page cap, no reduced quality, and no smaller batch.
2I used my free Merge. What happens now?
The tile keeps working. Tapping it shows what Pro costs, with the line for that specific tool, and nothing is hidden or padlocked in the meantime.
Your merged file stays yours either way. Free uses are only ever spent once a file has been written, so a cancelled or failed run costs nothing, and undoing a result hands the free use back.
3Why can I sign documents for free but not save my signature?
Drawing a signature and placing it on a document is free and unlimited — that is the part you need in a hurry, and it should not have a meter on it.
Keeping a signature so it can be reused on the next document is the Pro feature, and you get one free saved signature to try it. The canvas says so on the “Keep for next time” row before you draw anything.
4How many files can I convert at once?
Free converts 2 files at a time; Pro converts up to 100. The first, free use of a Pro tool is never capped — it gets the full 100, because a trial that cannot demonstrate the tool proves nothing.
Merging is also limited by total size rather than file count. Very large scans are held in memory while they are combined, so a merge takes up to 400 MB at once and says so, with the numbers, if you go past it.
5Where do my documents go?
Nowhere. Converting, scanning, recognising text, compressing and signing all run on your iPhone or iPad, and the App has no server to send anything to. The App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected because nothing is collected.
Files are saved in the App’s own Documents folder on the device, and signatures are stored in a protected container that is excluded from backups.
6Is there a free trial of Pro?
No, and there will not be one. The free tier is the trial: it is fully usable, and every Pro tool includes one real use so you can see what you would be paying for before you decide.
There is no countdown, no card required to try anything, and no paywall on launch.
7How do I cancel, or restore a purchase?
Pro renews automatically and is cancelled from your Apple account settings — Settings › your name › Subscriptions on the device. Cancelling leaves you on the free tier with your files untouched.
If you have paid before and Pro is not showing, the Restore button on the upgrade screen re-checks your Apple account.
8OCR and PDF to Text look the same. Which do I want?
PDF to Text pulls out text a PDF already contains and writes an RTF you can open in Word or Pages. It is free, and layout is not preserved.
OCR Scanned PDF is for pages that are only pixels — a photo or a scan with no text in them at all. It recognises the words and hands back a searchable PDF. That one is a Pro tool.
9Something is wrong, or a file will not convert.
Write to support@pdflabstudio.com and say which tool, which file type, and what happened. A screenshot of the screen you were on helps more than anything else.
Do not send us the document itself unless you are happy for us to have it — we do not need it to answer most questions, and we would rather not hold your files.
